Personal piece:
Who are you?
Gabrielle Watson, 18, Texan, student, writer of Lolita lifestyle blog la-vida-lolita.blogspot.com and the Mori/Dolly Kei blog fernandfawn.blogspot.com.
I love art, fashion, embroidery, photography, baking, music and making my own accessories.
What is your fashion?
My fashion is a love child of Classic Lolita, mori-girl, dolly-kei, cult-party-kei and old lady style.
When did you really get into that fashion- how quick did it happen?
I really got into Japanese street fashion (Lolita in particular) about 5 years when my best friend brought me an issue of KERA magazine from Germany. It was all down hill from there. The past two years or so I've been wearing more of the fashion instead of just stalking it.
What is your favorite item in your fashion?
I'm a big fan of detachable collars because they can really spruce up an otherwise simple outfit. I particularly love lace and sailor-style collars. I also love my collection of fawn fur items!
What is your favorite blog?
My favorite blog is http://mxxxxxm.blog111.fc2.com/. It's written by a lovely Japanese Lolita and though I can't understand much of what she writes, she's my style icon.
Where do you see yourself heading in the future within your fashion?
I've been fairly interested in Spank! and Fairy-kei recently. I'm not sure if I would ever wear a full on outfit, but I love the pastels and cutesy themes. As for things I'm more likely to actually wear, I really want to build up more of my Dolly-kei wardrobe and add several more versatile Lolita pieces. I'd love to get my hands on a pair of platform Converse or wing sandals but they don't even make knock-offs in my size (US women's 11).
What is the most embarrassing thing you’ve done within your fashion?
Oh boy, do you have a while? I've gone through the "I'm going to wear a piece of merchandise from every fandom I can think of", poorly executed Lolita outfits (Willy Wonka glasses and a jsk...) and I'm sure many other things I don't even realize. I feel fortunate that I didn't have to many "ita days" when I was first beginning Lolita. I was much more of an observer than an experimenter till about two years ago when I saved up working at Sonic to buy my dream Innocent World dress (Lauretta Rose).
And now the blog:
What is your blog about?
My Lolita blog is about trying to live with a Lolita aesthetic. I know that myself and many other Lolitas don't have the opportunity to wear the style very often, either due to finances, location or occupation so I try to focus on widely accessible tips and ideas. Plus I think a "Lolita lifestyle" is a very enjoyable way to live!
What was your motive to start a blog?
I think my motive in starting a blog was a place to record my thoughts and ideas about Lolita as a fashion, lifestyle and community. I also wanted to get feedback from other Lolitas.
When you started what was your prime objective?
Probably to post on a regular basis. I think I've done ok with that so far. I don't post as often as I think I should, but I haven't gone a month without posting before.
Who is your target audience?
Anyone interested in the fashion. I originally had no location target audience, I was generally expecting American readers. I was presently surprised at the amount of international readers. Many of the readers are American, but I also get many page views from places like Australia, Brazil, Russia and the Netherlands!
How’d you come up with the name for your blog?
Since it's a lifestyle blog, I thought an appropriate name would include "life". Also it rhymes, that's always a plus.
Where do you see your blog heading in the future?
Ideally, I would like it to include more outfit and coordination posts. I think it should include more Lolita community news as well (such as events, brand releases, reviews, etc).
What message do you want your readers to get out of your blog?
I hope my blog adds a bit of Lolita happiness and charm to your life ♥
Anything else you’d like to say to the readers?
Please keep an eye on my new online shop http://milkthistle.storenvy.com/
I will be adding my handmade items and art soon c:~~~~~~~~
Totally check out her store guys. I'm a sucker for fawn fur and her store is heaven!!
