Post cutting sadness

Any of you who have had a drastic hair cut will at some point inevitably feel some sort of regret in cutting your hair or miss the pros of your old 'do. Well, like everyone else I'm getting a little bit of that myself. Admittedly, I knew it was going to happen and accepted that, but I still miss having long hair a bit. I lost a lot of styling opportunities. No more pigtails, no more buns, no more braids. You get the idea.
And today I saw an interview on the EGL comm about RinRin. Talk about rubbing salt in the wound. RinRin was, and is, a huge source of inspiration.But, one of the main things I LOVED about RinRin was that she styled her real hair...which I no longer have an abundance of. :c
But I shall go forth with or without much hair. There are things I can do with my hair now too anyways. And it does make wearing wigs a LOT easier.Oh well. I guess that's just part of the process to be sad over losing your options.
I intend on making a post on styling short hair in the future! Keep an eye out!
On a different note- I have been mega struggling with getting the gumption to write more posts. My camera broke ;-; so I'm without a good way of doing most of my posts. Go figure, right? Talk again later guys. <3

Hi everyone. I just the other made a rather big change. I cut off a ton of my hair. I now have a bob! I wanted a change and it seemed like a nice easy cut. I LOVED having long hair, honestly I still kind of want it. But I need to go through a bit of time when I don't have to stress over hair and focus on other things like my wardrobe and beauty maintenance. It's a jump but I think it worked out just fine. I used to have short hair like this when I was young and it was....less than flattering but I've gotten older and my face is a lot less round.

I also just recently bought two new dresses to expand my closet! One's a basic pink and the other is Glitter Trump! I got them both for a steal so I'm very excited! School's starting up in the next day or two and I'm very nervous about it. It's not so much a grades or anything but I am growing more and more apethetic about things.I think it's also partially because of the weather- cold weather just drains me. DX
I got a bunch of new clothes for christmas which you'll see in coordinates in the future. And they are all super super cute! Can't wait to show you all!!

Sweet Rococo Review!

Hello everyone! How are you today?
Recently my old pink skirt kicked the bucket (OK, not so recently but I've been broke. :I) and I needed a replacement badly. I looked for quite a long time over a lot of places but I couldn't find anything that was simple enough and that I liked so I turned to Sweet Rococo, a business that makes there mark as one where you can design your own clothes and they will make them to your specifications.
~The process~
When you are on there site you can create an account and from there go into their "design wizard" that allows you to design your outfits. All outfit designs are stored in your online "closet" where you can order from. It's a very easy process where everything is labeled. Ordering is just as easy and guided.
~The product~
I was very nervous about the skirt because their display pictures are NOT flattering. They look really flat and small, not good for lolita at all! But, thankfully, that was just because of unflattering pictures. The actual skirt is very full and can certainly support one fluffy petticoat if not two. The skirt is a basic pink twill with a hem of lace.
I had already worn the skirt for a day before I took the picture and had the unfortunate happening of sitting in ink!! DX So, that's what the black spot on the side of the skirt is.

Really nice seams. The waste band was very good but I forgot to take picture of it. :I

It was a bit longer than I expected but that was all my fault for not paying close attention to the measurements for length. A forewarning! The sizes are about an inch two inches bigger than the ones they list! I got a small and thought it would be a little tight because I was on the LAST numbers but there was a good inch extra!

I give this a..... 4.5/5!

I would recommend it with the exception that the prices tend to be a tiny bit expensive.

Hello everyone! I'm back, I promised I would be! And it's not a gigantic post but there are some to come! I wanted to share an outfit I wore the other day. I go to this thing in my town called First Friday. It's an event held on the first Friday of every month where a square, where lots of artists are, in downtown Called Railroad Square exhibits it's art galleries. There's usually some bands or musicians and lots of hipsters and people. It's a fun thing to do since you get to be around so many people. I've met some good friends there.
Point is, I go every First Friday and I always dress up. I spend a good bit of time thinking out the dynamics of my coordinates. Perhaps a little to much time. XD But, here's my outfit!

Delano makes the news?!

Hey guys! How are you today? I wanted to tell you all somethign very cool that happened to me! Just like the title says, I made it into the news. It's small time but I was chosen to be in my schools newspaper! They had contacted me a few weeks ago about being in the paper and wanting to do an interview. I was interveiwed a week later over the phone and had my picture taken at school. I figured I'd just be a little column with a picture and a short blurb but no! I got an entire half page dedicated to me and my fashion choices! They were a little off about the description of lolita but nothing egregious, especially given that all they had heard and seen of the fashion was through me! It was super exciting and a big deal for me since I've never really done anything concesquential before. It felt really good to be recognized for something that means so much to me. I scanned the article for posterity and figured I would post it for you guys to see if you wanted!

Later on I found out that I'm actually a little infamous at my school! I had a substitute and she mentioned that the people at the head office asked about me! They asked if "that fluffy pink girl" was in that class, and apperently everyone from the principal to the deputy knows me. XD Though, I'm not so sure how reasuring the fact the deputy knows who I am is.
Te point is that I made some impact on my class mates and my school because of my fashion. A possitive impact at that. And it should just be a reminder that good things can and will happen if you stay true as you. *Cue cheesy music* But seriously, it was a really big deal for me and I have to say a thank you to you guys, my readers, because you inspire me to keep trying to do better and be better. You are one of my motivations to do well and I have to say thank you. <3

November Challenge!

Redefine your style

This month you should take a look at your current fashion sense and figure out what you like about it and what you don't. Make changes accordingly to try and perfect your own personal style. Go really in depth with your analysis so you can be as well informed as you can be. We get going so fast we get caught up in what we're doing and sometimes just need to take a step back and re-analyze your style.
I've been going through this myself for the past month or so and I'm really starting to get it nailed down in terms of what I like. At the end of the month I'll come back with a report of my findings and I want to hear yours too!

Things that can help you:
1. Drawing up coordinates that you would wear. They don't have to be stuff you own, just things that you WOULD wear. This is all about working forward.
2. Finding other people's coordinates that you like and saving them. Picture from: here
3. Approach it as if it were someone else you were thinking about, don't get caught up with yourself!

Perfecting your princess day

We all have those days when we feel down. Maybe you had a bad week at work, maybe you got a bad grade on a test and you feel bummed, maybe it's just one of those days. But whatever you're feeling you should always set aside some time for yourself, what's a princess without a little luxury? ;D
So, what is a princess day? You've probably heard the term used before, but a simple break down; a day where you indulge in luxury and pamper yourself and focus on your beauty and happiness. photo courtesy off...
But for those of you who work very hard every day, and even some of us who don't, we get a little lost in trying to find your perfect relaxation. Pampering can be a foreign concept so most people settle for some tea and a book. Well, I say PUT THE BOOK DOWN, step away from the snuggie, there is help!
To have a perfect princess day there are certain things that should be gotten out of the way first. For one, clear a day. Make sure that no one is going to mess up the time you have planned, and if that day should arrive and someone throws something in the works to mess it up, put your foot down and say no- this is your day, and it's going to stay like that.

Now the day has arrived! It's your special princess day! What're you going to do? let's confront the first question- Breakfast.Breakfast can be tricky because it involves you having to use, cook, and wash dishes, but unfortunately it's unavoidable. So, try for something simple and delicious. My suggestion is pancakes with strawberries and whipped cream. It's easy to put together and it tastes fantastic.
Breakfast is out of the way now, so what do we do now? Do something minorly active. It's the morning and your body needs to wake up! I would suggest yoga outside if the weather is nice or inside if not. Put on music and bob along to it. The point of this is to free yourself from tiredness and to be able to face the rest of the day, so whatever wakes you up and makes you happy!

So, heres some free time, you have permission to pick up that snuggy if you want. Or, you could do any number of things! This is the part of the day where you do whatever you want to do. Go see that movie you wanted to see, watch a marathon of Doctor Who, go to a nice restaurant, go shopping, read a book, paint, draw, write, whatever makes you feel happiest! This day is all about you so do what you want to do!
So, now, your day is drawing to a close, it's the beginning of the evening,, and it's time to relax.

Draw a bath for yourself, add whatever fancy bath whatsits you have. Lavender bubble bath, bath salts, whatever you have. Grab a book, a fashion magazine for those of us for fashion inclined, and take a bath (candles are optional ;D). You could even bring in a little something to eat, like chocolates for super luxury. Stay in there for as long as you like, just make sure the bath isn't to hot or it could be unhealthy! Read, relax, reflect on the day, enjoy the moment.

Night is here and your princess day is drawing to a close. Time for bed and sleep. If it's cold out fill up a few water bottle with hot water and put them under your sheets while you get ready for bed so your bed won't be freezing cold. Get your comfiest pajamas on and head off to sleep. Have dreams of the wonderful things you did that day.

The most important thing to remember about princess day is it's all about you.

Pumpkin Painting Meetup!

So last weekend a few of my local lolitas got together for a meetup. We wanted to do something befitting the season and after brainstorming we decided to try pumpkin painting! It's less messy than carving and it was really fun. I hadn't been to a meetup in ages so it was really fun to catch up with the other girls that were there. Only two girls could make it the full time unfortunately but Cournti managed to stop by atleast! Eleanor coudn't make it though, her weasel had an emergency! :C
It was a fun meetup though and I took plenty of pictures!

My sister came along for the meetup, which was nice since we didn't have very many people.

My fall/ winter fashion plan!

So fall is here and I'm super excited! I usually dread fall because I hate cold. I hate it with a passion, but I think my will to make interesting outfits out weighs it this year! I've been doing some thinking on where I want to go this year with my outfits, and my style for fall and winter. And I think I've got some pretty goood goals set oput for myself, along with some general ideas.

For fall I'm seeing more interest! I want to start doing more creative acessories. I've been digging neck bows a lot recently and different shoes have been drawing my attention as well. I see lots of bows and heels. I also am trying to think more outside of the box with my hair styles. I want to get away from my usual pigtails or straight down hair. I'm trying to get more creative with more updo's and more complicated ones too. More buns, fake bobs, braids, etc.

Legwear has been a bit of interest to me too. Tights are fun and usually I forget all about legwear until it's to late, much to the chagrin of the Rules. XD But, i've been paying much, much more attention to them now. I've been adding socks or tights all over the place and have been considering getting those cute loose socks that stereotypical japanese highschoolers wear. I think they're adorable!

I want to start wearing more colors too. I really have stuck to a White x Pink combo because it's what I knew and what was easiest. But now I want to explore some other possibilities! I want explore more vivid and interesting colors. Colorways like Pink x Red, Lavender x Pink or blue, White x Blue, Pink x Brown, and so on really are striking me. I want to try out new and different combos and see where it takes me!

I also want to start customizing cardigans and just getting cardigans in general! My plan is to find some cute cardigans that I can wear with lolita and add to them. Put some embroidery on the lapel area of them, maybe add some lace. I think a collar peeking out over the top of a cardigan is super cute!

My aesthetic for this season is really leaning towards kind of school girl style. I've been loving plaid, ties, varsity jackets, suspenders, etc. I've REALLY been loving varsity jackets. Some went on sale in F21 at the beggining of the school year and I LOVED them. I got one in black and have already worn it once with lolita though I forgot pictures, sorry!! -_-" Pretty much anything school-ish looking to me. XD

As for winter.... I'm not sure, I've been thining about but nothing has really struck me. :< I really have been liking fawn print as of late but that's not really enough to go on... XD Maybe I could go with a forest princess thing. It would be apporpriate for wear I live and work with the fawn print. I would see lots of braids, bobs, browns, freckles, pink blush, fawn print, browns and creams, big eyelashes, updo's, lace, and simple designs. Also fur, nothing says forests like some fur. I don't really see lots of prints in my future. Maybe a few, but not a ton.

(Note the freckles ;D)

I think these are going to be a fun coming seasons for me. I've gotten myself kind of giddy for the new season, I think I'm going to change my layout to suit my mood now!

One item Seven Ways- Poodle Skirt

I don't have the biggest closet so I usually have to be creative with my outfits. Since a lot of lolitas are in the same boat I thought that this would be a fun segment to do; I take one item of clothing and put it in seven different coordinates that incorporate that piece. Hey everyone! I have a short outfit post today where I got a little fancy for school. I had just gotten news of the fact that I had won that contest and I was extremely thrilled. So thrilled in fact that I decided to wear my Lady Rose JSK to school in sort of a tribute to the dance since I wore the dress in the video.

It's a really basic outfit because I've been having trouble finding a lot of ways to coordinate it and it's still hot here. :(

My fashion inspirations

Everyone has people that they look to for fashion inspiration. Especially when you spend a lot of time on fashion! I have a few myself so I thought it'd be fun to write a post about them!

My first inspiration is Misako Aoki.

I admitedly have a HUGE girl crush on Misako. She is absolutely gorgeous, adorable, and is pretty much who I want to be! XD She is very very sweet without being OTT which is what I generally try and do.

Princess Skye is another one of my big inspirations.

She ran, once upon a time, the blog Princess Portal. It was a huge inspiration to me and one of the things that prompted me in the beggining to be a lifestyle loli! Her coordinates are very sweet and princess and he lifestyle was fantastic!

RinRin is a model for angelic pretty among other things. She her coordinates always have personality! She uses bright colors and creative makeup and her hair is just adorable! I'm borderlining on a girl crush with her too. >__>

I love that she isn't the typical OTT AP girl that you usually see. I also love that she styles her real hair instead of using a wig! there's a AP marine coord that I'm in love with but I can't seem to find it. ;-;

And I'm pretty sure almost every sweet lolita has her as a inspiration; Shelby Cloud. I adore Shelby's coordinations. The themes she picks in her outfits are always adorable and well put together!

Shelby has some of the most creative casual-er outfits and THE BEST WIGS ever. She is such a nice person too!

I won the egl dance contest!

So, I don't know how many of you are current with the EGL community but in June and July they had a dance contest, which I entered. The idea was to do a dance in lolita, obviously, so I picked the song Killer Queen to dance to. It sort of reminded me of Momoko from Kamikaze girls so I figured it'd be fun to dance to. I wore lady rose in sort of a Hime style, to correlate with the killer QUEEN. Hahaha, I'm funny right? No? Fine. :c
Anyways, I won the contest so I thought I should mention it. It was a huge compliment and I felt really good about it, I really love dancing so it was really flattering to know that your are good at it! Here's the video if you want to see it:

How to make a cute hat displayer!

I recently got Misako Aoki's autobiographical book type thing. I have probably gone through it 10 times taking inspiration from her coordinates and her closet but a few things especially caught my eye, like her room's decor. She has the cutest room ever! And then I saw this hat holder:

It didn't seem like it'd be that hard to make something like that, so I thought I'd give it a try! And it turned out so well, I thought I'd share with you guys how I made mine!

What you'll need

Some sort of clips strong enough to grip a hat. I used alligator clips.
Findings with an eye. Or some sort of bulge at the top.
Chain. You can see the measurement in the picture. I went with 48 inches. You don't want a really thick chain but it should be sturdy.

For decoration:

Ribbons
bows
anything you think is cute.

Step 1: Ok, to start you want to take your chain and thread your ribbon through it.

Make it in a relatively even pattern when your threading otherwise it looks messy.

Step 2: Now set aside the chain and get your findings and your clips. Take one finding and put it through the gap in the clip though the mouth... That sounds weird, here is a picture.

Step 3: Bend the eye to a sharp angle right next to it's base.

Step 4: Pull the finding down till it catches on the coil at the base of the clip. The clip should be able to hang from the finding and not fall off.

Step 5: Lay out your chain and figure out how many hats you could fit on it without looking weird. Once you've done that you can start attaching the clips where you want your hats to be.

Step 6: Take the edge of the finding and put it through one of the links.

Step 7: How loop it back under the chain and keep it tight to the chain. Just slip the little end under your ribbon and you're set!

This is how your clip should look when holding a hat.

If you want to add decorations now is your chance to do so! I added little bows to mine but you could do anything from sticking tiny teddy bears to yours to leaving it as just a chain!
Here's my ending result!

School has been going pretty hard but fashion waits for no one! This is one of the outfits I actually was able to get a picture of, and I'm am very fond of it! This is one of the skirts I got on my back to school shopping spree too!

A new direction

Hey guys! How are you today?
I've been doing some thinking about this blog and I've realised it's just not in a direction I can easily write in. I've kind of gotten stuck in a mental state where I can't really write what I want to that keeps within what I kind of imagine is my standards for topics. I know I'm being a bit vague with topics but I am not talking about outside of lolita. I have decided to start writing just what I want to on here, though I assure you it will still all pertain to lolita, I just want to be able to talk about the parts of lolita that are fun for me.
So, Here's what you can expect there to be more of in the future:

Lifestyle articles. I've been thinking about where I am on the niche market and what makes me individual and I've realized I have nothing that's really different about my blog. At the same time I've realised that my niche is the lifestyle. I'm a big lifestyle lolita as most of you know so I figure why not write about it? It's what I'm good at!
Monthly lolita challenges. This was something that a long time ago the blog princess portal did and it was so fun I thought I would continue on with it!
More outfit posts/clothing posts. I'll be posting things like hauls, coordinate ideas, outfits I've worn and so on.
Me just talking about thing in the fashion I like. Things like talking about how much I freaking love Misako Aoki or about a new dress that I'm in love with.

So, this is where I'm going to be headed in the future. I hope that you guys will stick with me as I change a little. I hopefully will be more passionate about writing now. :3

How to stop a bad day.

Everyone has a bad day every once in a while. Too many things going on, stress, drama, just a looming feeling of grossness. I know how it feels, I just got finished with a few days of that myself. You feel pretty horrible when those days hit and getting so wrapped in the feeling is both cathartic and damaging. It's much better to try and get your way out of the mood. Here are some ways to stop one of those days dead in it's tracks.

Spend more money than you should on an instantly rewarding bauble. I went into a chocolate store and walked out with 10 bucks worth of chocolate because it made me happy. Something fun and frivolous that you'll enjoy.
Talk to a very close friend so you can just vent. Sometimes you just need to talk to someone who will really listen.
Watch a feel good movie with a sweet ending that will probably make you cry. Crying releases a lot of pent up emotion and can make you feel waaaay better. Sometimes crying is just the best thing you can do, even if it's over something small.
Stop whatever you are doing and just breathe. We get going so fast and just speed up and up, never thinking about just stopping for a second. Play a mindless video game, watch videos of kittens or people falling over. (I'm not here to judge)
Listen to music that you can just listen to. Things that don't conjure strong emotions of anger or sadness. Happy music and calm music. My current happy music is Andy Grammer's Keep your head up and my calm music is Watsky's Ten fingers.
Take a long bath and read a book. Make it extra nice by adding a quart of whole milk or a few black tea bags to the bath. Milk makes your skin really soft and Black tea has multiple benefits one of which is to reduce inflammation which is great if you are stressed.
Do a fun little craft that's easy. I am in love with this one to make little pipe cleaner deer.
Read some fun blogs that aren't serious. I am in love with the blog Miss Educated. I just recently found it and it is absolutely fabulous. Click the link for the deer to see the blog.
Don't bother with fashion for a day. Worrying about how good your coordination is won't help your mood at all. Pick an easy outfit that you feel fabulous in.
Play dress up. Just for the hell of it. Pull out your biggest most outrageous clothes and try them on. Take pictures if you want!
Let the light shine in. Don't keep yourself to dark areas. Let the light in! Bright spaces' make you feel more awake which makes you feel less tired and down trodden.
Do something, anything to get your mind of of the issues that have dragged you down.

Day at the mall

A weekend or two ago I went to the mall with my friend Kate. (I know, two posts with the same friend so close to each other. I am not forever alone I promise!) She had just gotten back from a trip and had sewn a gorgeous dress but she only really dresses up when we hang out. So we got together to go see Cowboys and aliens and to shop around at the mall.

We had to walk from the mall to the movie theater. It wasn't long but it was hot and this is where we were walking. :I

My emotion to having to walk in 98 degree heat on random dirt because there were no side walks.

Day 6 – 10 things you can’t live without in lolita.

Today on the agenda is another day of the 30 day challenge! This time it's what 10 things in lolita I can not live without. I live in a very temperamental part of my country as far as weather goes so I end up NEEDING a lot of stuff with lolita. Here are my ten things!

1. A petticoat. Not just a little one either, to me if the dress isn't puffy it isn't lolita. The shape is the number one identifying trait.
2. A Parasol. In Florida you get insane heat and rain. All the time. So I need a waterproof parasol to be able to make it through most of the summer if not the fall and and winter too!
3. Makeup. I can't wear lolita without makeup, it looks half assed to me. It works on some people but I just can't do it. It's such an elaborate style that no makeup unbalances it.
4. The second hand community. I get about 3/4's of my clothes off the second hand community. On the basis that buying from brands is so stressful and complicated. I would much rather work with a single person on a more personal level.
5. Low heeled lolita shoes. I can't wear heels so I need low stuff to be able to make it work. It's not that I have a health issue or anything but more I've worn mega comfy shoes for like my entire life and never adapted to wearing heels. It sucks but I'm considering heel training and slowly working my way up to heels.
6. Deodorant. Ok, a little tmi but I get really hot in lolita and I do not want sweat on my clothes! >:I
7. Accessories. I only recently have come into the ownership of a pair of wristcuffs so I have to use other types of accessories. I love bracelets and the like.
8. My friend Mana. Whenever I get down about something, not getting the right coordinate or feeling kind of yucky she's always there for me. She has helped me so much and is my very best friend.
9. Tumblr. I always go there when ever I need inspiration! The pictures are always so amazing and it helps me ~~stalk~~ keep up with all my favorite people.
10. Blogs. Not tumblr blogs, real blogs. Like full articles written blogs. They are very inspiring and it just gives me something to read when I'm in a lolita-y type of mood.

That one was kind of fun to think about! What do you guys have to have? I know some of these I couldn't do lolita with out! Have a great day!

A Freakishly Late Birthday Post.

Soooo, my camera has been out of commission for about 3 1/2 months. It took pictures perfectly fine but it wouldn't load them. AT ALL. And I couldn't find the software for it it reinstall. >:I But I found it ~flail~ And I am so happy. My phone takes really bad pictures compared to my camera. Long story short I have pictures back from my birthday and I am going to post them by god! Even if they aren't that good!
So, My birthday was may 7th. For my birthday I went out to a very nice french restaurant and then to a ballet. My friend Kate and I went to the ballet together and my mom, my sister, Kate, and I went to dinner together. :D

I have a lot of stuff I want but since the 30 day challenge dictates I can only have 10 I guess I have to pick. ;-; Oh well.

1. Holy night story military style jsk. I feel like there are so many creative coordinates you can do with this jsk! And I'm a sucker for fancy bodices.

2. Chess Chocolate Miniskirt. Again, some military inspiration in this skirt (which I love). It's not exactly lolita but it's so cute I would wear it so much. :I

3. Chained Berry Memoir jsk. My favorite motifs are strawberries, pearls, and bows. This dress has two of them and it's really cute! And I love pinkxblue. It's one of my favorite combos!

4. Babydoll Jsk.I want a kind of house dress that isn't pajamas and this totally fits the bill! It's really cute and has a relaxed fit ~~and momoko wore it in Kamikaze Girls.~~

5. Fantastic Dolly. I love theming coordinates and this dress screams 1920's to me. It's such an awesome colorway too!

6. This dress looks like a prom dress to me. Which is where I want to wear it to. XD A fancy updo and a pink rose corsage and this dress= amazing!

7. Vanilla Chan Jsk. Again, pink x blue plus the fancy collar makes this dress a winner. And I love cats. >_> Like crazy cat lady.

8. Triple Tart skirt. I made a really cute set on polyvore for valentines day and from then on I just kind of got obsessed with it. XD

9. Scalloped Jsk. It's kind of a pretty basic jsk but my sister owns the brown version so one day I want to get this and twin with her. :3

10. Marchen Ribbon jsk. Again, bows and pearls. I really adore bows and this jsk is just so adorable and toned down.

Day three of my Lolita challenge and the prompt is 10 things I hate. Well, This is going to be interesting!
1. The way the waist is always a couple inches too high. >:I
2. How when you take pictures it makes it look like your petticoat shrank. Ie. EVERY PICTURE OF MINE EVER.

3. How the secrets on the secret community never are actually secrets. Though some of them are worth it. ;3
4. How it seems like people never agree on anything in the community.
5. The way brand only give a small thought to the western audience when some people literally worship them over here.
6. The way lifestyle lolita has a stigma attached to it and a stereotype.
7. How hard it is to sit in a car with a petticoat on.
8. How quickly some petticoats deflate/ how hard it is to find a good petticoat.
9. The way it's so hard to explain to old people that you don't mean the promiscuous little girl. >___>

10. The feud between lolita and gal. It's stupid and petty.

It's day two of my lolita challenge, I know it's not actually the day afterwards, but I'm hesitant to post EVERY day for fear of cluttering up your inbox. Sooooo, two, three days a week?
Anyways, Day two is 10 things I love in lolita. This shouldn't be to hard. ;D
1. Details! Things like pintucks are all fine but the things that really get me are the ones you don't notice till you're wearing whatever it is. In this case that includes hidden pockets. God I love hidden pockets.
2. The poof. I love the shape, it's all domed and stylized looking in real life!
3. The opportunities for clashing stereotypes! I listen to everything from rap to electronica so it's always funny to suprise people.
4. Friend filter. That sounds weird but I always know that when someone approaches me while I'm in lolita I know they are atleast an ok person. It's like a filter to see how shallow someone is.
5. The people you meet. My closest friend I met because of lolita! If I didn't have lolita I would never have met her!
6. The positive attention. Lolita isn't something you should get into for attention but that doesn't mean that attention is bad! It completely brightens my day when someone compliments me on my clothes or hair.
7. All the layers. It's fun to go through all the steps of putting on clothes. Morning rituals help me get ready for the day plus it just makes me feel fancy.
8. The fact that almost EVERYTHING is detachable. Waist ties, bows, ribbons, it goes on. XD It's fantastic!
9. The publications specifically dedicated to lolita. It's so cool that there are specific things dedicated just to lolita!
10. Getting to write this blog and share what I think with you guys *cue cheesy music* But seriously. <3

Yep. I wasn't planning on doing it since some of the stuff is a little silly and uninteresting but OH WELL! Let's start on day one!

I love JSKs. I would pick a JSK over a skirt any day. And that's only partially because I have that bulge you get at the top of the skirt where the blouse is tucked in. >_>
I am very much a lifestyle lolita. Though that shouldn't be new to most of you guys that have read my blog for a while. XD
My brand loyalty is forever split between Baby and AP. ;_;
I have never owned bodyline. I'm not entirely sure what to think of that.
I bake in lolita. I wear an apron but I do it. XD
My silly "If I could do anything" dream is to be a lolita model. I think that'd be the freaking most amazing thing ever!
Meeting lolitas in real life is big for me. The first time I saw other lolitas in real life I got near to feinting. >__> I know, I'm silly.
I wear lolita at least once a week. I wear it when to my job type thing and pretty much whenever I go anywhere.
My very best friend ever is a gyaru that used to be a lolita. We still giggle over lolita stuff.
Lolita is one the most important things in my life. Besides the obvious things like family and friends and school it's the BIGGEST thing in my life.

I'm sorry I've been gone...again

Hey everyone. I am really sorry I've been gone...again. I recently got a sort of part time job and now I am pretty much 9-5 babysitting a 5 year old and a 7 year old half the week and it takes a lot out of you. But I'm perking it up by going domestic. I've been wearing lolita with aprons and handkerchiefs and so on. It's really fun and makes me feel fancy. :> So I'll probably have some outfits from that! I really appreciate all of you guys that support me and stuff. Also, if any of you guys know what I'm talking about, I'm not going to bring it up. To big of a deal over something that's pretty much a dead horse.

Metrocon 2011

Hey guys! Sorry I was gone for like a week or so! I was getting ready for the con I go to every summer, metrocon! It was soooo fun and yes, I did successfully debut as a hime lolita~! There weren't very many lolitas there though, but there was an ok amount. One dealers room stall and 2 lolita artist tables.
The craziest thing happened there though! So, there was a lolita panel on Sunday but it was intro to lolita so I figured I'd just stop by for a second and then go on my way. I was at the artists alley having a conversation with the girl at the pretty pop designs table (She is awesome!) and check my phone and see it's 12:20. The panel started at 12 so I say goodbye and walk to the room to see. I walk in the room and there is no one on the stage, no visible signs of activity and the people are just sitting there looking around. So I walk to one of the only other lolitas in the room and ask what's going on. She tells me that no one has shown up for the panel so we go off to find one of the people in charge and ask them. They say that the people are just no shows! They never came for there own panel! Me and my new friend person head back to the panel and tell everyone that the panel host's are no shows but no one really leaves, they all just stay there. So we sit for a second, then I kind of just get up, walk on stage, and start talking about lolita. @___@
It was crazy! But so awesome. In the beginning there were like 12 people by the end there were at least 25. I'd say more but I'm not sure. Probably one of the best memories ever! Here are some pictures from the con.

I got a purse, a pretty mug that is PINK ON THE INSIDE!, a star hair clip (which I forgot in my picture), and a tiny companion cube. I am under the opinion that every lolita should have their own apeture science weighted companion cube.

It was a good con and I can't wait to go back next year!

Living like Momoko.

The movie Kamikaze Girls is extremely famous in lolita and it's main character Momoko a big inspiration to many lolitas. I admit I find similarities between me and her far to many to be perfectly safe. XD To me she is a HUGE lifestyle inspiration, and quite possibly the most famous lifestyle lolita as well! I have probably watched that movie about a bajillion times. Momoko is a good person to draw inspiration for your lifestyle from if not her personality. XD Take a little inspiration from her yourself and maybe:

Decorate your room in lolita style. Super obvious even if you've never seen kamikaze girls but maybe take a tip from Momoko.Use your dresses as decorations. Get some dress figures and put some coordinates up!

Don't let the cute end at your clothes! Branch out into your consumables! Cute food is super fun to eat and especially if you are on a diet and not really all to excited about cutting out foods this is a great way to enjoy the food you eat.
Change your ringtone. I don't know why but one of the most memorable things for me is when Momoko's phone rings and it's classical music.If Bach isn't really your style you cold put something cute like the nyan cat song as your ring tone. ;D

Be simplistic but creative in your coordinates. Momoko never relied on huge border prints and pre-made outfits in her coordinations. She was simple but there was definitely detail in her outfits. She wore interesting accessories (full size hats, yeah!) mixed different colors. And, impressively, didn't do barrel curls or wigs. (though that may be because of the time it was made in.)

Don't be afraid to stand up for yourself! Don't be afraid to protect your happiness!
Have a hairstyle you can default to. Lolita doesn't look right if you don't bother doing your hair so find a simple style that's easy to do and looks super cute. Momoko frequently utilizes loose curls in the movie.

Have one friend you can confide anything in. Someone you can trust to be able to cry around and tell all your secrets to.
Find a feminine hobby and learn it well. Momoko picks up a few of these: She learns the names of flowers, embroiders, etc.

Have one game you kick ass in.No feminity required. Pachinko your heart out!

Summer Lolita day meetup 2011

So, Yesterday I went to a lolita meetup for lolita day. Yes, lolita day is technically on saturday but we wanted everyone to be able to come so we moved it to sunday which was more convenient. We rented a conference room in the library and watched movies and ate food. I test wore Lady rose in a more subdued hime style for the meetup which was fun. So.....Here are some pictures of it!

Updating the lolita lifestyle

The basis for lolita lifestyle is very old fashion, classical music, tea houses, baking, embroidering. You know the deal. But lolita isn't rococo era fashions, or for that matter Victorian. We are a mix of the future, the past, and the now. We can't sit back and say we don't live in today, and that our fashion isn't either. I'm fairly certain deco was not around in the 1700's! So, why should we have to say that only the old fashioned is for the lolita lifestyle?
To me lolita isn't even really old fashion at all. Yes, some inspiration is drawn from those sources, but on the whole we are a very now culture. We wear bright colors, things unachievable by old fashion standards, we use cell phones, our skirts are knee length (or sometimes a little shorter), our wigs are not as they were back then. We are an entirely now creation, and without the now we live in we wouldn't be lolita! I could go as far as say we are an anachronism to every age! So, why do we limit ourselves to the old fashion in our lifestyles?

I say we bring lifestyle to this century's life. Update our music choices, add a couple of activities to our list besides tea or baking, bring technology into our lifestyles, and just live in the way that lolita REALLY is.I know it'll be a little shocking, changing the paradigm of your lifestyle, but living lolita is living now in the way lolita was created. In today and in the future.
Start simple, add a couple of artists to what you accept as lifestyle. Lady GaGa really embodies some of the emotions of being different shared by most if not all lolitas. Or maybe you could just add some Jpop. Perfume is a good group, as are most hello!project groups.
Change up some of your lolita activities. Things like arcades are super fun, and, what a lot of lolitas already do, purikura. Add more video games to your repertoire. Bring technology into your lifestyle instead of shunning it.
I'm not saying that you shouldn't do old fashion, anachronism remember. It does mimic the aesthetic of lolita but lolita is very future looking and living a lifestyle that is supposed to mimic it's aesthetic doesn't match up to living in the past.
We are anachronisms and shouldn't limit ourselves. Live in every age, past, present, and future!

Hey everyone! How was your easter, I had a fantastic one myself. Expect multiple posts from easter pictures. :D I did a little mini shoot on easter so I thought It'd be fun to share! It ended up with 2/3's of the picture looking like the sheep was hiding from me so we turned it into that! Here are the pictures!

My Plan For Hime Lolita

I had made a post a little while back about hime and gyaru and incorporating it into lolita. And I don't know if I mentioned it but I am definitely going hime lolita partially. And by partially I mean full himelolita part of the time, just to clarify. ;)
I've pretty much mapped out my transition to hime at this point but I thought making it public might help motivate me!

My first step is the biggest and it come in two parts. I'm going to save up for my first hime dress (Lady Rose you will be mine!) and I'll be practicing more gyaru-like makeup.... As soon as I get more makeup for it. I have some false eyelashes and eyeliner at least!

The second step is to buy a wig from GLW's awesome hime collection. I have my eye on the honey gold one at the moment. I think that it'll look the best with my skin tone....I hope. Mana Starre got the light brown one and it looks FANTASTIC.

Then, third step is to get some hime shoes. The heels that bodyline has seem a good candidate to be DIY'd. Some lace and some roses and I could have a pretty kickbutt pair of shoes. Hopefully mine will turn out good if I do that.

Fourth step is to gather up all the extras. Tiaras, socks, bracelets, necklaces. All that good stuff.

Fifth and final step: Make my debut at metrocon. I'm hoping to get this done by mid-late summer but we'll see how that turns out. >_>

I really hope I'll be able to do it! I'm trying really hard. :D

20 Things About Me

A few people have been doing these posts where they list twenty things about themselves and I figured I would do one too. I don't really talk about myself a TON more about what I do and stuff so I figured it'd be fun and bearable. ^__^ Let's get to it!

I am a huge nerd. I'm a trekkie, a Doctor Who nerd (David Tennant FTW), I do a little bit of Star Wars, video games, comic books, manga, and ....yeah, a lot of stuff.

I speak some Vulcan, some Latin, and some Mandalorian.
I have this thing where I have issues buying socks and head bows, I just have issues justifying buying them.....It's very silly, but true.
I love makeup. I'm not super amazing at it but I kind of adore it and could blow ALL of my money on it.
I unconsciously measure my bank statement in how many dresses I could buy with the money. XD I never would use it for that but it's like my standard measuring system.
I love a LOT of different types of music. To give you an idea my three favorite artists are Mindless Self Indulgence, Lady Gaga, and Billy Joel.

I embroider. I don't do it a lot but I like to use it to spice up cardigans and plain pieces.
I went to private school up until high school....THE ENTIRE TIME! @__@
I love to bake. I love, love, love to decorate and ice pastries.
I am horrible in school. I manage to make OK grades, mostly B's and A couple A's but people often assume that I kick butt in school when I really don't.
When I was younger I thought I wanted to be a mechanic.....Now I want to run a tea house. XD
I only have 4 pairs of shoes right now, two black one brown and one pink.
I can fry chicken.
My favorite colors are pink and blue, like cotton candy. Kind of like my layout. ;D
I am a nerdfighter. DFTBA!

I hate twilight. It is a very bad book in my opinion.
Before I was a lolita I was a mix between an emo, a goth, and a hipster. Which was a very odd combination for a 10 year old.
I religiously read memebase.com
I despise pants, they make my legs feel claustrophobic and I literally own like 2 pairs.
I'm currently saving for Lady Rose for my debut Hime lolita dress.

Saving is in your interest

Lolita is an expensive hobby. Even if you thrift half of your clothes it could still end up being in the hundreds! But while, some lolitas are able to afford brand fairly easily, minor especially, have to save to be able to afford anything. When I first started out I had no idea how to save but I eventually figured out some ways that worked for me. So, because we all have a dream dress out there or just can't hold onto our money I've written down some tips. Some of them may seem pretty obvious or silly but it's what works for me, think of them as reminders. :)

Collect change- If your like me you don't use change. It just sits there in your purse until it disappears into oblivion. But if you start saving change over time you amass money you would never have had. I took my change to a counter the other day and I had 76 dollars from saving change for....4 months? That's a lot of money for almost no effort.
On the same note, there is no shame in picking up change off the street. No one will miss it!
Or, Do you have friends who never use their change? Ask them if you can have it, they certainly aren't using it!
Divide your money. If you specifically set aside saving money away from your spending money then you'll be less likely to blow the money you've saved on an impulse
Don't put all your money to save either. Keep a small amount as spending money. This will keep you from dipping into what you've saved.
Don't borrow money. I'm not saying whether you should take out a loan on your house or anything but more 5 bucks to buy coffee. It's little amounts that you borrow that add up. I ended up owing my sister almost 30 bucks from borrowing. Not my brightest moment. ._.
Use holidays. If it's something you really want ask for money as presents. Christmas and birthdays have helped me in the past. Make sure its OK though, some people think it's taboo to gift money.
Don't take money window shopping. You'll be tempted to spend money on things you don't need.
Prioritize. Decide which purchases are important and base what you do spend on that. It'll keep your expenses to a minimum. Important questions are "can I live without it" and "How much will I use it"
The obvious-- Get a job, they make money, plain and simple.
Sell some old clothes, if you have a skirt you don't use then why let over a hundred dollars waste in the back of your closet.
Just have patience. Good things come to those who wait. :)

Freecon!

I went to a local anime convention yesterday called freecon. It gets its name from having totally free admission. It isn't a very good con, the cosplay were for the most part not very well done and the vendors and artists were in small quantities. But we had a two girls come from out of town for the meetup and it was really fun to hang out with everyone! On to the pictures!

Overall, I would go again just not for the stuff the con provides but the people there.

7 Day Challenge Completion!

I did it! Seven days straight of lolita!!! I did casual, I did fancy, I had fun, I hung out with my loli bro Katee! Here are the pictures!
Monday:

Hung out in Monticello and then went to Tally.

Tuesday:

I got a hair cut- Welcome back blunt bangs!

Wednesday:

I hung out with my friend Kate who had just had her hair cut too! She is such a cutie!

Thursday:

I did housekeeping. I was having trouble with lighting and everyone was gone thus the weird angled outside pictures. XD It was a cute outfit for cleaning though!

Friday:

Casual outfit for a casual day. I visited my grandmother and I got to go to a really awesome music festival called Springfest! There was a band called tornado rider and they were hilarious!

Saturday:

I chilled, went to the mall. I wore nerd glasses that day because I just love them and they are supah cute! No socks, Boo on me! :P

Sunday:

I went to tea, got very fancy but didn't do much and used my bumpit!

And that was my week of lolita. It was super fun and gave me taste of what it's going to be like once I have enough of a closet to wear it everyday. Worth it? Yes. Was it fun? Yes. Would I do it again? Heck yes!

My room

I realize that in the past I talked a lot about decorating your room in lolita style. And after having a conversation about rooms I finally got motivated to post some of my room. I think it'll always be a work in progress but as is now I am very happy with it.

Yes I still sleep with a stuffed animal. Don't hate. (Those are Alice deco a la mode and GLB BTW)

Little Macaron Reveiw

A while back I ordered this dress from Little Macaron as a HUGE and amazing present from my parents as an Easter dress. The dress is absolutely gorgeous and I am in love! This is a review of sorts for the dress.
I received the dress a few weeks ago only a few short days after placing the order and having it confirmed! The packaging itself was fantastic!

Adorable decorative tape on plastic wrapped over tissue covered clothing. And this isn't including the padded envelope it was sent in!

He included a free matching bow!!! It was so nice of him since the actual bows were sold out!

Back view! The back goes low so this isn't a no blouse kind of JSK. My skin colored but not skin colored bra is a testament to that.

A good up close of the bow. There was the most adorable little heart with lock charm on it! You can see it in the bottom right hand on the bow!

Up close of the ribbon bows on the chest which (unbeknownst to me when I bought it) are detachable!!

Corset lacing lace. It's very sturdy and beautiful!

Bottom lacing was soft and nice!

Unfortunately waist ties were one sided in terms of print. But that isn't that bad at all. some people just have a pet peeve about it.

Overall:

Shipping: 5/5 very well packaged with decorative extras. Very aesthetically pleasing and well thought out!

Communication: 5/5 He was VERY nice! I didn't have to talk to him about anything but he sent me a message after I placed my order saying thanks for buying and telling me when he would ship!

Quality: 4.999/5 Aside from one sided waist ties the dress was FANTASTIC! Very durable and well thought out. Good quality supplies and very detailed.

This dress is one of my most beautiful dresses! (My friends are a little jealous! XD)

Totally worth it!!

My 7 day challenge

I have given myself to a little challenge this week. Since this week is spring break for my school I thought it was the perfect time! I have decided to try and go an entire week of lolita straight! I have never tried it before because of school and all sorts of nonsense. I want to have at least these goals included in my seven day challenge:

Casual lolita done really well.
Really fancy sweet
Gyaru inspired- I don't know if I'm going to be able to do this one since I have such limited supplies and knowledge but I'm going to try.
One day with pigtails, one day with curled hair and one day with perfectly straight hair
I also want to wear a beret one day if I can manage it! ;D

I'll be posting on this coming Monday with all of my outfits and what I did in a short summary each one of those days. I'm going to try and do something lolita-y each day too! Wish me luck! I'll be starting today!
I have started as of Monday.

A new direction

Hi everyone! How are you today? I have emerged from my minihiatus with some interesting revelations about my lolita style. Recently I have been reading Star Princess religiously and have, to some extent, fallen in love with gyaru. This isn't to say that I'm abandoning lolita. I don't think I could do that if I tried. >_> But instead I'm going to try and be integrating some hime gyaru and gyaru in general (though a lot more himegyaru) into my wardrobe and style. I especially have fallen for gyaru-esque makeup. I love how, for a lack of a better word, spunky gyaru is. It has attitude and I love it! This summer I'll be going to metrocon (one of the BIGGEST cons in Florida) and hopefully debut as a hime lolita.
I have a long way to go. I have to build a new look almost from scratch (thank god most of my pieces are basics!) Lots of wigs, makeup, and clothes to obtain. I'm going to be working my butt off! This change has been inspired by a lot of different forces (mainly Star Princess though) some of those pictures you'll probably recognize!

The other day I went out to the mall and to a bakery and met up with some friends. I had forgotten my brown shoes at my dads house, for the billionth time, so I had to work with black in my outfit and this is what occur ed! I love how I look a little french. This is one of my favorite outfits to date! XD

Short Hiatus

March tips

Sorry these are kind of later than usual. I had them written up but egads did I fall of the deep end this week. No time for myself!
Anyway-Here you go!

Start shedding layers and spice up your wardrobe with some colorful blouses since you can see them now!
Make lists. Lists of what your favorite dream dresses are, To-do lists, lists of flowers you like, anything! Lists are fun and easy and they occupy bored time.
Look up at the clouds every once in a while! (Not while walking, though! Important!) See what shapes there are. If you find a specifically distinct shape make up a little story about it- whether it be a unicorn triumphing over a cow or a dragon on a joy flight!
Set aside one day a month for yourself. Spend your "princess day" doing everything you love and nothing you don't. Shut down the computer, go outside, doodle, day dream, BE YOURSELF!
If you're having a little trouble getting psyched back up after the long winter and so many unflattering layers get yourself a little something! Nothing huge required but a little meta ring or necklace or deco bauble may be just the thing to get you pumped!
Go on a picnic. The weather is starting to get very pleasant so seize the opportunity! Bake some scones and go outside to a local park or natural area!
Get a spring coat. Here in Florida the weather in spring is heinously bi-polar when it comes to temperature, so having a light jacket is essential.

What are you guys' plans for march? Things have been pretty intersting for me and it's only been the first 3 days! XD

So- a while ago a BTSSB fashion show video popped up on my tumblr. I watched it, was generally blown away by everything in it ever. And then to add to that Lolita charm just wrote an article on it! (You can also watch the video through that link) This has gotten me super psyched for what they are coming out with! Here are my favorite things I'm looking forward to for spring.

Differing head wear. In that one video I was flower headdresses, crowns,and gorgeous straw bonnets. I hope they come out with a straw bonnet like the one in the video SO BADLY!
A whole lot more fairytale themed stuff! I love love love fairytales. They are one of my favorite things!
Some what looks like medieval inspiration? That's going to be awesome if it comes to fruition!
A lot of princess like styles. I saw both Georgian and rococo in there! Princess style lolita is one of my most favorite things.
Bustiers. I. Love. Bustiers. SO MUCH! They totally change the look of an outfit. There should be more in the world right now. One more reason why I love BTSSB
Less prints more texture. I love prints, they're cool but nothing beats luxurious fabric and amazing lace
Princess sleeves FTW! God I love how romantic they look!
More generally detailed bodices. Skirts get all the love but the bodice is what's flattering.
More colors. Blouses are getting browns and dresses are exploring some alternative colorways.
What I hope will be the realease of some fans. The ones in the show were GORGEOUS!

In the beggining Makeup

When someone is starting out lolita emphasis is put on clothing and coordination skills. And while this is totally appropriate given that it is a clothing fashion I feel like many a girl is left in the dark about makeup. I for one started lolita at around age 12 and I had never used make up, of course back then I didn't need it! But over time I realized that an all out outfit really doesn't look complete without makeup! You have elaborate outfits, hair done, and nails at perfection and.....? blooogrh (that's my no makeup noise XD)
I have never been an exact expert on makeup and I like different things than you may but, at least for a beginning lolita, there is some stuff that you should just generally have. I have been working on a nice little list of what every lolita should have (make up wise). Feel free to add or give suggestions in the comments!

At this moment I would like to add that these differ in specifics depending on style. For example pink lip gloss would be better for sweet styles in comparison to gothic. Pick at your discretion

nail polish in a neutral and a fun color

hairspray
hair ties

If you have no idea what any of these names are I would suggest reading a beauty book online or in real life. Maybe watch a tutorial for basic make up on youtube. These are basics to aid you in achieving a cute/elegant/doll-like look. These basics can be manipulated to a bunch of different styles.

The truth of japanese street fashion

There is a truth that many lolitas do not get, or may forget, or may not even be introduced to-- that Lolita fashion is still an eccentric, crazy, out there hobby that not everyone loves and knows about! Many lolitas who have journeyed to Japan are taken aback when they don't immediately spot an abundance of street fashion. And it really isn't surprising that they're surprised.
What we see of Japan is generally very limited. What we see are street snaps and what we read in our mooks, which is only a small little bite sized portion of everything over there. Street fashions are relatively underground over in the east, just as they are here in the west. People know about them, yes, but it is still a eccentric hobby relegated to the devout and experimenting. We should expect to see a plethora of lolitas and decora and gyru over there as much as a Japanese tourist might expect to see hipsters and scene kids dressed to the nines lurking in every nook and cranny!

We often complain that because we aren't understood in the good old USA, Britain, France even. We 're the only ones goaded and patronized. This isn't true! For example, the above video is for a tv show of some sort- and within the interveiws there is most definetly a level of patronism, but it's minute.
Many lolitas fear that the culture was dying out, and there was a pretty big wave of that misconception fostered by both certain blog posts and a circle of ever-increasing rumors. These things are not true- lolita is still a very small demographic and one cannot hope for a mass (and by mass I mean over 200) gathering of lolitas in one place. It is an outlandish idea to expect such a thing to occur without purposeful thought and planning. At least as far as things stand today, and have stood in the past.
Yes there are a lot of lolitas, and yes we are ever increasing but for heaven sakes WE ARE SMALL. There's an interesting psychological phenomenon, related to confirmation bias, where people naturally assume that the rest of the world agrees with them, and knows what they know. We have to retain perspective. No matter how much we think otherwise, we are very small, especially in the western hemisphere . Yes there are lolitas in the world, and no I don't think there are about 5 in all of our massive Earth. It's just a matter of perspective.
So, please, understand what I mean when I say small-- I mean small in comparision to the overall population. Rumors make for good drama, but they skew our sense of reality.
Consider the facts, and understand for your own knowledge-- to prevent rumors from growing-- lolita isn't dying and won't for the forseeable future. We are small, we are dedicated, and we are strong (particularly when the summer crowd comes rushing in), and it should take something a little more powerful than a couple rumors to shake the foundation of a decades old palace.

And one last thing- For god's sake! STOP READING LA CARMINA! She has literally no idea what she's talking about, regardless of the topic!

Meetup Report: Picnic Time!

Over the past weekend I went to a meetup for my local group at the nearby university park thingy! It was kind of special because I took my friend Kate (The one who I've been mentoring! I've made mention of her in past posts) and it was her first time meeting other lolitas and her first meetup! She wore her very first JSK (Love Nadia) too! It was a lot of firsts for her. <3 I took a lot of pictures but a lot of them turned out bad! >_

February Tips

Man, this title has gone through so many different changes- December lifestyle, February tips and all the others I can't remember. I need to stay with one! Anyways- Without further ado here are the February tips for making life a little fancier!

Make some valentines for all your local lolitas and brighten someones day. Post them on Loli Valentines if you want!

Weather is starting to inch towards warmth. Walk around your neighborhood or city for any premature signs of spring. I saw some wild flowers the other day and totally spent like ten minutes looking at them! You forget what flowers look like when you're surrounded by dead trees.
If you're a guy looking to make a ruffle butt swoon (And I mean who wouldn't ;D) read a few love+lolita articles. Like this one from Miss Lumpy here.
If you have light colored hair try a non permanent hair dye in a fun color like pink or red for Valentines day!
Make something heart shaped and eat it. Strawberry pie for example!

A time back I lamented over the loss of Skye's , the blogger responsible for The Princess Portal, interest in Princess Portal. This post (and posts to come) has nothing to do with that.

On Princess Portal there was this fantastic list called The Princess Code, which goes like this:

This list is one of the things that inspires me as a lifestyle lolita and it holds a good bit of significance since it partially inspired me to be a lifestyle. And that combined with my lack of posts (SORRY!!) has led to a new series- Achieving the Code. This new segment will be taking each one of the rules and giving a post discussing or explaining how to achieve that rule. For example; the rule
"A Princess reflect’s her inner beauty in her aesthetic choices." will be a post on how to decorate your room in lolita style.
It's kind of like a list of prompts and an fun thing to do. I'm looking forward to it.

And I know that I suck for not posting more. SORRY! School is not fun and eats my life. Seriously.

Fancying your Life: January

So, the lifestyle tips makes a reappearance (albeit with a fancier name)! January to me is such a bland and sad month. There's not any holiday cheer anymore but the cold grossness remains. I, at least, just feel rather apathetic. There's nothing pretty around you (unless you, you know, aren't sick of dead trees/snow) and you can't really do Christmas-y stuff. Thus, I present the apathetic month inspired tips!

Take a bath. But not just any bath- the most luxurious bath ever! Get your favorite non messy snack (Chocolates,popcorn, whatever) get a nice hot bubble bath, and grab a Lolita mook. Spend a long time soaking and pampering. Add music or scented candles if you feel like it!
Buy Snowdrops. This flower is very pretty and looks like snow (Hence the name). It'll remind you that spring is coming.
Go vintage! Treasure unknown lies behind the doors of vintage and antique stores. I've gotten some of my favorite pieces from these stores! It's also nice because you get to stay inside, mostly, during the cold.
Start planning for spring. It won't come any faster but it'll keep you entertained while you wait. And will allow you a chance to get your spring clothes ready.
PREPARE FOR OLD SCHOOL DAY! I don't know how many of you stay current on EGL but recently there was a day proposed where everyone dressed up in their best rectangle headdresses and platform shoes and kicked it old school! The current date is between march 5&6 depending. As soon as it is completely verified be sure I will be promoting it to no end.

How has everyone been by the way? I have been a little....quieter haven't I? -_-'

I went out today. I was getting a little anxious just sitting at home not doing anything so I decided to get super fancy and go out for a while! Nothing big just the mall and Joann's and some other places. I've been itching to use the vintage fur stole I got for Christmas (I promise the post is coming!!) so I finally caved and wore it.

That's right, 2011 is practically here! Like everyone I have resolutions and just like everyone I will probably fail at them by February. Never-the-less I will try so hard follow them!

~Work on the layout for my blog- I am super lazy when it comes to graphics and such. And to be honest I don't know how to do a lot of it. I don't know how html works and how coding works. But this year I'm going to try and make Lolita weekly attractive to the eye and individual!

~Bring back the weekly in Lolita Weekly- I haven't been posting as often as I would like. I have trouble figuring out what content I want to go up and what people want to read.

~Possibly change the name of Lolita Weekly- I feel like the name is kind of dry and boring and doesn't accurately portray this blog. (Any suggestions?)

~Put up more pictures!- Pictures make everything prettier and lets you guys get to know me better!

And on a less blog-y note:

~Increase my notoriety within the Lolita forums
~Expand my Lolita closet
~Host at least one meetup this year!
~Do more extravagant makeup with more false eyelashes!

I went around town and did some shopping for christmas. (I procrastinate waaaaay to much!) And I did it in lolita because lolita is just more fun! Unfortunately by the time I had a chance to get back home and take a picture in my sister's mirror my petticoat had kind of fallen asleep for the day.

I tried curling my hair with a straightening iron......It worked better that a curling iron! the results lasted the entire day while curling iron ones only last for a while and then fall flat!

I was tring out expressions- smiling into a camera tends to make me look like a snake!

Christmas coordinates?

I got to thinking "You know, Christmas is like an awesome holiday and it's approaching fast" And from that ensued a whole bunch of questions "OHMYGEEBUS, I haven't gone shopping for anyone! What should I get?!" "Am I traveling?!" "CHRISTMAS TREEEEEEEEEEEES!!" (That last one wasn't exactly a question ;)) But one question stuck with me-- "Am I going to wear Lolita on Christmas? And If I do what do I wear?" And I sat and pondered and pondered and thus this post was written!
This is just to give some ideas and just be a fun post! I'm not telling you what you need to wear. Also, I'm not as well versed in some of these styles *COUGHGOTHICCOUGH* so it might not be exactly on track. Once again, just for fun!
I'm not giving brands because this is just supposed to be basic ideas. (I will link to my polyvore at the end which has these sets in it but some of the stuff isn't stuff I would suggest buying and is only used to give a gist of what I mean)

First up- Classic

The classic coordinate is caroling ready! Kind of Victorian and warm. The full bonnet keeps ears warm and adds a little flair and the velvet on the dress adds elegance and warmth.

Sweet Coordinate

I went with a snow fairy aesthetic for sweet. A shiro outfit in winter warmth with some angel accents. The wig because it isn't white but it isn't natural giving kind of a surreal effect.

Gothic Coordinate-

This coordinate is supposed to be off of "A Christmas Carol". The first ghost of the night represented by the chain and the pocket watch and the basically ghostliness by the rest of the outfit. Like I said, Gothic is something I struggle with a little. Christmas isn't a super Gothic holiday to me.

Deco Coordinate-

This is the one I am proudest of. my train of thought was Deco < candy < Christmas candy < CANDY CANES! This is just the basic idea and you add on the extra accessories at whim. In the clip in falls are small little Christmas ball ornaments and overall attention to detail is the fun part- the nails, the way the shoes look like candy, the candy cane socks. I don't wear deco but this seems like the funnest outfit to me!

So There are some ideas on Christmas coordinates. It was fun for me to make them and I hope it was fun for you to look at them. Do you have any Christmas coordinates? Any loli Christmas plans? What are you guys doing for Christmas?

International FREAKING lolita day!

Yes, its that time of year again- whooooo I feel so cool saying that. To give you an idea of why I'm excited for Lolita day-
1st year- Didn't know it existed
2nd year June-Didn't know it existed
2rd year December-Didn't have good enough planning and did nothing but drink some tea
3rd year June-Oh! I should do something! *Has a 3 person party and bakes too many cupcakes
Needless to say- all my loli days have been failtastic up until now. BUT I"M GOING TO MAKE THIS ONE AWESOME OR DIE TRYING!
*Ahem*

So, this year my friend that I'm loli-mentoring and I are having a some tea and going to the mall and stuff- not to eventful, right? Well, the reason this is big is because I'm giving her my first Lolita skirt ever and it will then become her first Lolita skirt. Big stuff! I wrapped it because I'm cool like that and because I think loliday is going to become a gift giving holiday for me. Nothing big just little token things like a cute vintage button or a bow or something. I'm going to have tea and maybe bake something. Wear my new skirt (second hand IW poodle replica) that is awesome and just basically be awesome sauce. Yup. Awesome sauce.....mhmmm

I sometimes struggle with getting into the lifestyle spirit- old stuff is old and I just can't think of stuff. So I'm going to be trying to do one of these a month just to kind of give you some ideas for fun stuff to make you feel a little fancier. It's not anything superamazingfanatstic but we can not think about them sometimes!

~ Cut out paper snowflakes of different sizes and tape them to your window. This is really nice if you live in a hot place like I do and there is no chance of snow. It’s a good way to get in the winter spirit.

~ Make a Lolita wish list and “mail it” to Loli Clause. Make sure it includes “Dear Loli Clause” and include everything you want—from dream dresses to the unicorn she forgot last year.

~ Experiment with mint flavoring. Mint tea, mint chocolate, mint beauty treatments. You get the idea.

~ Go caroling in your finest. Sing classic Christmas songs and trot around in cute winter boots.

~ Take a carriage ride through your town- if they have them. Look at the lights at night in the city. Most cities put up some sort of lights and they are gorgeous at night.

~ Make a gingerbread house and little Lolita gingerbread people. Make a Lolita shaped stencil and cut out your people around that. Make your dream dress out of icing!

~ Try decorating your Christmas tree, if you have one, in Lolita style. Old, old school ornaments that are super ornate and decorated in shining silky threads and gold and fake candles are good for a classical look. Or, for a more deco look, put up pink lights, lots of shiny glitter tinsel, and things with lots of glitter and rhinestones. Use fake pearls as a garland

~ Fur is fun! There are all kinds of stuff- mufflers, earmuffs, collars, caplets, accents. Something for everyone! If you’re against fur farming you can look for vintage fur which is often times more tasteful or just buy fake fur!

~ When you’re wrapping Christmas presents try wrapping them in brown paper and tying them with a nice satiny ribbon.

~ Make yourself a special Christmas Lolita outfit. Special post addressing this very thing coming soon with some cute ideas!

(I know it's a day early but I was excited to get them out since this is the first time I've done them!)

The ever expanding thoughts on Lifestyle!

So, the other day-- after not having a headdesk induced epiphany for my English paper- I looked around my room and and realised just how far I'd come as a lifestyle lolita. And from that I started thinking about lifestyle lolita in general. Critical thinking kind of stuff. And this post is what came of it-

Everyone has their reasons for being in lolita. "It makes me feel princessy, feminine, etc." And just the same- the reasons for being a lifestyle lolita may vary. You might just fall into that category because of your prior interests or you might pursue that lifestyle ideal for whatever reason. When I first started lolita I wanted to be a lifestyle because it seemed fun and because it helped me in life.

I'm a procrastinator and I have trouble getting motivated. I also get bored easily. This mix was just right for becoming a lifestyle. It set standards- kind of a way of tricking myself into doing things. Instead of "none of my friends do their homework, why should I?" I think "Victorian ladies had to have their studies, I do too." It also gave me a challenge-- How much could I loli-fy? How far could I go? My room? My school supplies? Nothing is off limits and it makes you feel 100% in control of my life. And because there are endless areas to loli-fy there is always something to look forward to.

Before lolita I didn't put much effort into anything. I was always kind of apathetic because my class mates weren't too fond of me and my family didn't put emphasis on appearance or anything much. (Not to say they don't love me, they just put emphasis on things other than grades and family and such nonsense. I see things differently than they do.) But when I found lolita people expected things from me and that effort could be put into something and people would like you, and even possibly be envious of you.

I started trying lifestyle and, over time, effort and thought weren't needed-- it just came naturally. I carried myself better, became more knowledgeable in refined areas, and knew things. I didn't become obsessed with lolita-fying everything. I knew and still know my boundaries. I retained my personality and humor. I became, what I believe to be, a real lifestyle lolita. Not something you struggle with or debate over-- something that you just kind of know. Starting out as a conscious effort "let's make this cute" and "that could be frillier" into just making decisions automatically.

I'm not saying that if you think about it or debate or struggle you aren't a lifestyle. What I'm saying is that this is where the road leads- To living an unconscious, without needless effort, lifestyle reflective of the lolita ideal.

Happy almost thanksgiving for those of you in the U.S like me. A holiday post will be up tomorrow.

Photoshopping-A philosophical discussion

By now most people have probably had some sort of awareness or experience of the current photoshop v. non photoshop debate. I write today to take my position on the topic.
Because that's what a blog is for, right?

I don't like photoshop. It can be a fickle thing with plenty of exceptions-- I understand that the lighting in the picture was terrible or you couldn’t get rid of that one zit-- and that’s ok. I get that. I understand that it’s quick and easy and doesn't make a difference in the end. I do it too. (Well not really ‘cause I don't own photoshop. But if I had the ability I would.)

But everything has a certain line you shouldn't cross.
I believe you should never photoshop your actual physical appearance. Cheekbones and eye-shape, waist size and hair color. I’m talking The Way You Look. I don't care if your chin is a weird shape. I don’t care if your eyes are too far apart. I don't care. Maybe you’ve got this one flaw that’s been nagging at you for years now, and you feel like you can finally be free of it now, virtually. Maybe you’ve got a winestain. Maybe you’ve got a scar. Maybe your boobs are too big, or too small.
I do not care.

When you photoshop yourself that heavily you're cheating reality. You are creating a false perception of yourself that others and you see. And that's not good. You're creating your own other world instead of living in the real one.

You can’t just leave your real body behind. You still have to live in it. Tomorrow, you’re still going to hate that winestain or that mole, or your weight or your height. You can’t photoshop your physical body—or maybe you can. It’s called plastic surgery. Don’t we generally scoff at the women who get surgery after surgery, nose reduction after nose reduction?

We don’t live in the world of Wall-E. We can’t live our entire lives virtually; forget our physical bodies in favor of the world in a computer screen. When you photoshop your real appearance, you’re creating a delusion. You’re creating a lie.
This isnt a good thing. Real life is real life and to function as a real human being you have to except reality-- and in doing so realize that you're not perfect and it's ok. Behind all the wigs and makeup and fluffy clothes none of us are. Nobody’s perfect. It’s why we wear make-up and flattering clothes. There’s nothing wrong with making yourself look good—how could there be?
But here’s what I think (and again, this is what I think): photoshopping the real core of your physical being is a denial of what you are. A denial of what you look like. It means you don’t think you’re good enough, one way or the other. It means that you want to impress people, and you’re expecting us to judge you. Well maybe some people will. But what are they judging really? It’s an old story with a new twist.

What you are is good enough for me. Not what you want to be, not what you think you should be, but what you are. Don’t lie to me. Trust me with your honesty.
So- Here's my challenge to all of you as my readers- This week, it doesn’t matter if you only fix zits or change your actual appearance, I want you to post at least one picture somewhere with NO photoshopping. Absolutely none.
Not so much as a brushstroke.
And you don’t have to say which is which. Just post it and be done.
And the second challenge- on a little more of an inner happiness level. I want all of you to post in the comments one flaw you have and why it makes you you. Every scar’s got a story, right?

Happy halloween everyone! There's something magical about Halloween! Whether it's the spooky atmosphere or how everyone is a little more adventurous, this holiday has always been one of my favorites! No matter where you go there's always halloween in some form. Everywhere there's been halloween- Dia de los Muertos, all hallows eve, Samhain, the harvest festival! I love it!
Worried that your halloween plans aren't quite enough this year? I have solutions!
~Read some Edgar Allen Poe poems. Light a few candles and read aloud. Bonus points if you understand what he's saying. ;)
~Listen to some halloween music. I dont mean that lame stuff they sell at the halloween store- I suggest anything by Creature Feature, the soundtrack from Nightmare Before Christmas, and a few select songs by Voltaire (the band not the poet). My playlist includes Necromancer by Gnarls Barkley, I put a Spell on You by Marylin Manson, and Mama by My Chemical Romance.
~Turn on the children's chanels, Cartoon Network and Disney and so on--they always have specials, and a lot of them are truly legit. Same with the history chanel, they usually run some fun stuff.
~Rent The Halloween Tree or Something Wicked This Way Comes. They're both Ray Bradbury stories that were turned into movies, and they're both fantastic.
~take a walk around the neighborhood and admire the decorations. People go to a lot of trouble to make things as fun as possible, and you might as well admire it a bit. ;)
~shoot from the hip and aim for the head!

My "how did I discover Lolita" story is kind of silly, sometime in 2002 I discovered the Lolita fashion through little pixel art things called "Cartoon Dolls", from there I discovered other kinds of Lolita art and eventually realized that people actually wore these fantastic dresses! I actually spent a very long time drooling over the fashion until I worked up the nerve to buy a real piece of Lolita, about 3 years. After I got my first real pieces I was still pretty slow getting into the fashion because very few brands shipped overseas at the time and I was under the impression that none of the brand clothes would fit me in a million years. I still had a bit of sticker shock and had a hard time spending even the $100 or so that F+F charges for a dress. I had a handful of pieces from places like Fan+Friend and other custom shops, but by no means a Lolita wardrobe. Once I discovered that not only did I fit into brand, but that there was actually a whole LJ community selling second hand brand for cheap, well, the fashion sort of hit me like a ton of bricks. This was around 2007, and I've pretty much been a full time Lolita ever since.

What kind of Lolita are you?

This question is a tough one! I feel very connected to Gothic Lolita because before I got into the fashion full time I was very much a Goth and still consider myself one, so my love will pretty much always lie with the very gothic Gothic Lolita styles. Despite that I tend to wear Sweet Lolita in black colorways (black and pink <3!!) and Kuro Lolita most of the time and I'm trying to move my daily wardrobe more to the Classic Lolita side of things. So, really, I simply consider myself a Lolita, not one particular style.

What is your favorite Lolita Item?
I'm not even going to get into my list of dream prints and pieces! But instead I'll just answer for what I own XD My favorite Lolita item, that I have in my closet, is probably my very first Baby, the Stars Shine Bright JSK. It's a relatively simple all black JSK, but I just love to wear it and it has a lot of memories for me!

What is your favorite blog?
My favorite blog, hands down, is Futility Closet (http://www.futilitycloset.com/). Weird facts, strange stories, and other oddball stuff, every single day, what more could you ask for in a blog?

What is your stance on Lifestyle Lolita?
Despite the fact that I do not call myself a Lifestyle Lolita I very much live a Lolita lifestyle, from decor, to hobbies, to how I pay for my Lolita wardrobe (I make bonnets to pay for ruffly clothes! It's my new rule so I don't end up going broke XD only buy frills with the money I've earned from making frills), but I dislike the term because so often it's used to refer to Lolitas who sort of exaggerate the whole thing and come off as very insincere and I would rather not people assume that I'm that kind of Lifestyler, the kind that is super hardcore into it but takes the lifestyle off when she takes the frills off. So I tend to consider the Lifestyle things I do as simply Gothic, they just so happen to fit in with the Lolita lifestyle.

Where do you see yourself as a lolita heading in the future?
I would love to make my own shop/brand name (http://www.etsy.com/shop/OphanimGothique) more legit. The dream of having a burando of your own is a dream I'm sure most creative Lolita's have, and I'm no exception! I also have the silly dream of one day owning a real closet XD I live in an older house so I have zero closets, so I keep a lot of my clothes in an antique armoire, and the bar goes straight into it, which is incredibly frustrating because I can only see the first couple of dresses. I get jealous when I see people with big closets, not because I want the stuff in it (I have enough of my own!) but because it looks so easy.

What is the most embarrassing thing you’ve done in lolita?
Once I nearly walked into traffic at a meetup :X It happened years ago and I'm sure no one remembers it but I'm still embarrassed that I was so spacey.

Which grammatical error bothers you more- a lot or a general lack of commas and apostrophes?

What is your blog about?
My blog, F Yeah Lolita, is about, you guessed it, Lolita. I try to make it be about a very wide range of things within the world of Lolita, from basic tips and tricks, to reviews, to up-and-coming news, to just general things that Lolitas might be interested in. It's not so much a personal blog (as in, "this is what I wore today", "this is a picture of my food" "Look at this neat picture!") but more of a resource for other Lolitas.

What was your motive to start a blog?
I used to talk about starting one with a friend of mine, I just had a lot to say about Lolita and I wanted to be able to get it out somewhere. I really wanted to give a little back to the community and fashion that I love so much, even if all I had to offer was tips and tricks I have picked up over the years and silly rantings!

When you started what was your prime objective?
"To be useful to Lolitas everywhere!"

Who is your target audience?
Lolitas! I tend to target a lot of my posts towards newer Lolitas or seasoned Lolitas looking to step outside of their comfort zone.

How’d you come up with the name for your blog?
My friend actually came up with the name! I was sitting around with blogger.com opened up about to register a username and I IM'd her about it asking for suggestions. I knew I wanted the word "Lolita" in the title to make it very obvious what the blog was about, we joked about making the title a reference to one of our favorite bands, the 90's pop group Savage Garden, so "Lolita Garden" was actually one of the names I registered but I decided against it. She then suggested "Fuck Yeah Lolita" and I thought it was just perfect! I've sort of censored it to F Yeah Lolita because I didn't want a swear in the URL in case the link would get blocked at a lot of places, but everyone knows what the "F" stands for XD

Where do you see your blog heading in the future?
First of all, I would like to redo the layout coding. It's a complete mess and far from perfect. That's my first blog goal! I would also like to do a lot more "reporting" I guess, to go to more Lolita events and report back about them, but I don't really have the time or cash. My other, kind of ridiculous goal, is to turn my banner with the unicorns and candy into a print on a dress. So I guess my goal for my blog is for it to be a dress XD

What message do you want your readers to get out of your blog?
"You can be a Lolita if you want. There is nothing stopping you!"

So, over the last weekend I had tea with a friend and I bakes lemon squares. As it turns out they go AMAZINGLY with earl grey tea!

I also went to a buffet and of course being me made this-

Then I went to the little town near my city (I love it there) and saw this hella awsome car. (It still works!!!!)

That title was a mix of mandalorian and lating because I dont know what the other equates to in each language. Basically it means "So your still alive, self"....or close enough. I just wanted to tell you guys that my posts may be a little more sparatic, i dont really have any inspiration on what to write (IDEAS, if you have any) and school is taking over like 96% of my working brain which makes it even harder. So, the other day I was in class, minding my own business, wearing what I thought was a pretty cute nerd loli coord. Handmade skirt, blouse pearl necklace and braclet and some nerd glasses, pretty simple. So I'm sitting there in class when bam a guy three rows infront of me turns around and says.....
"You look like you should be in a teacher porno."
OMGWTF- How does that even work?
Well, on a another day longer in the past, I was on one of the school computers, searching through btssb website just browing out of boredom. A guy walks in sits next to me and starts doing stuff on the other computer. But, as time goes on he starts paying more and more attention to my computer screen. eventually he asks me
"Is that amish sexwear?"
Once again OMGWTF

Taking inspiration: Music

So, Earlier this week I was on the computer listening to music as I parused egl and I was suddenly struck by......*INSPIRATION!* Music to me makes me see feelings, emotions, and moods. Things like bubbly or, rainbow or, happy. And in turn I can take these things and turn them into coordinates. So. to illistrate my point I took 3 songs;

Pink Floyd: Time (Classic)
Owl City: Rainbow Veins (Sweet)
Voltaire: Headless waltz (gothic)

And Made coordinates for them. Here they are along with a little explanation of each.

This is the classic coordinate inspired by pink floyd's time. I feel like their music is this crazy, simple, elegant but totally insane thing. I interpreted this with the spats, clockwork exposed watch, eyelashes and wig while having the elegant feel using the green simple dress and accessories.

This is to Owl City's Rainbow Veins. It's supposed to look whimsical and happy. I cant explain why exactly why I choose what I do but it always seems to fit with the music.

This is for Voltaires: Healdess Waltz. I wanted to incorporate that "devil went down to georgia" type of feel with the fiddle and the city slicker appeal of the vest and top hat while at the same time making it bad ass which is the make up and the boots.

Duck Pond Outing!

So, today I had a little excursion to a lake in the middle of my city. Now, my city is really borderlining on city size. Its more like a giant town and there is a lake, in the middle of it....with ducks...and pigeons. And I felt like dressing up and doing something loli and I couldnt think of anything else since i'm almost broke. XD So, here are the pictures starting with an outfit rundown:

I thought this picture looked pretty. (Those are canadian geese by the way, So many different kinds of fowl in one place!)

This was on the drive back to my house...... Soak in that awsome right there. XD

And this is a card I got that I'm going to frame at some point. I ooks more impressive in person because the wings have glitter on them.

School occupies 83% of my brain

So, on monday I went to school in lolita. (the first day of school) This may not seem that *awe inspiring* But it was the first day of school AND it was the first time I had not been forced into a uniform in order to recieve education. (Yay public school) I wore a new vivcore shirt I'm in love with (reveiw upcoming,) over a jsk to give the appearance of a skirt, no petticoat just 'cause I didn't want to deal with that the first day, and some simple flats.
Florida, being the brutal death pit that florida always is, was extremely hot, but so worth it. SO. I went to all my classes without a single hitch and a few compliments (woo). So, after experiencing loli school life up close and personal (I wore it on friday too, and I looked cute, but no pictures of either excursion. boo.) I have a few things to bring your loli and school lives a little closer.

Wear your less important loli to school. Good stuf in those kind of situations always gets ruined by a stain of some sort. (Ie. Taobao, bodyline, anna house, etc)
Cuteify your school supplies- pink notebooks, quill pens, I have some older (not that great) articles on the subject.
Same goes for your lunch- heart shaped sandwiches, pack litle baked goods in there, edible glitter (IT EXISTS), and cute little containers are all good ways to make your lunch a little sweeter.....loli lunch!!
At least in the first week you'll be signing things a lot-- Perfect your signature. Never underestimate the power of a fancy signature.
Perfume your turn-in papers and suprise the teacher. (a la Legally Blond?)**
Use every oportunity to expound on your love of Lolita. By the end of the year, your English teacher will know as much about the fashion as you do.
Have something fancy for breakfast before you come to school. Something simple like strawberry crepes can be prepared the night before and just put together the morning of.
Always pack backup clothes just in case. (That's true for most people)
Be prepared to face a little critism and remain confident and outgoing.

Tea for begginers

I told you there would be tea articles and lo, here one is. For those of you who havent discovered the wonderful world of tea, this article is for you.

In the lolita subculture tea is very popular. Many an article has been written on it and many a meetup based around it.I myself am something of a tea fanatic. It could seem intimidating trying to find what you like or even what it is. White, green, oloong, black and then the endless varieties of each. Where does one start?

If you want to find a flavour of tea you find pleasing start with a tasting panel. Get a few basic types of tea to determine what you prefer. Start with one black tea ( I prefer earl grey), a basic green tea ( my sister likes bigelow green tea but the stuff made by twinings is more traditional.), a herbal tea (I'm not much for herbal teas but rosehip and chai are popular, try one of those), and a few random varieties that strike your fancy. Maybe darjeeling and a mint tea? (Make sure your teas are bagged, we havent gotten to loose lea yet.(; )

Once you have your teas all rounded up set up the tasting panel, get a mug for every variety of tea you have and put just boiled water in them two thirds up. put the bagged teas in the cups and let them steep 4 minutes. remove the tea bags but dont trow them away. Try the teas, add sugar if you want one to be sweeter, milk or cream if it's too bitter, and put the tea bag in again if its not strong enough. Using this process you should be able to identify what tea you like.

After you've found you're prefered tea, we can move on to the wonderful world of *LOOSE LEAF TEA*! Now, this can be scary to some people or even confuse some. "loose leaf tea? They sell tea that isnt bagged?" or my favorite " loose leaf? Isnt that a kind of paper?" But I assure you, loose leaf tea is totally worth it.
Loose leaf tea:
~has a far better flavor
~means you wont have to waste by throwing the bags
~Just makes you feel fancy (Bonus points!)

If you wish to pursue loose leaf tea there will be some things you will need.
~A tea strainer or infuser
~Loose leaf tea
~And a totally optional tea pot

You need a tea strainer or infuser to make loose leaf tea work. They are also one of the easiest parts to come by. You can find them in the tea and coffe isle of your grocery store. If there are none in your grocery store check health food stores and online in one of the links at the bottom.

The second part: Loose leaf tea. It can be bought in health food stores, the occasional grocery store, and in online stores. (Bottom links) Tea shops also sometimes offer signature or special blends.

You dont need a tea pot but its handy to keep the steeper from failing into the water.

My blog is about the things I like. The focus is lolita fashion, but I also like to write about sweets, toys, and anything else that catches my fancy.

How’d you come up with the name for your blog?

I like pink. I like milk tea. "Milk tea" is incredibly popular as an online username, so that was taken long ago. I like to use "sweet milk tea," but that was also taken. I didn't want my blog's name to be directly related to lolita fashion, as not every post is about the style.

Where do you see your blog heading in the future?

There are no plans--I want this to be fun for me to write, so I try not to make too many decisions in advance~ I'd love to make a few short video-posts, but I don't know what to talk about! I freeze up when I stare at a camera; I'd need someone asking questions.

The bright side of being underage!

Quite often you can find a person under the age of living alone with a job, anything from 10 to sometimes 18 if you push it. They lament the troubles of being a minor. How it’s so hard for them because they can’t get a job or they have school or any assortment of things that being a minor would cause. I myself am a minor, I won’t lie, and it can be a pain. You parent doesn’t want you using their paypal, you can’t legally get a job or you can but you don’t have A) the time B) the experience C) the focus/patience.You have to get by on a small allowance and you have to pick between that movie you want to see and those wrist cuffs you’re just in love with.

It can be hard, and those of you over-age complaining about how they have it easy and they don’t have to work and they get free money- They also either can't work or have tried and failed. They don’t have the option to work. I am in no way am trying to stick up for the people who complain about how they “have no money and can't afford anything ever at all and you should feel sorry for them and give them cash”, and I know that they can find ways to make money. We all know there are car washes and bake sales and such, and this leads me to the actual point of this article. (Yes dears I assure you there is a point ;))

And this point is to remind the minors of the loli world that we don’t actually have it THAT bad. Counting your blessings is a good thing to do every so often. Here I’ve made a list of all the perks of being underage in frills.

1: We don’t have to pay taxes, or any type of loan or mortgage. Pretty much we have to pay for almost nothing that we need to live. (No, despite popular belief, lolitas do not need to consume candy in order to maintain their Super Magic Glitter Powers (TM). Put the giant lollipop down, honey.)

2: My sister has said that Japanese women have the physique of a 14 year old American girl. Now I don’t know if this is true or not but they are certainly small. That means us smaller people can fit into brand easier. (I wear a medium in btssb and it fits perfectly.)

3: Going to school allows you the chance for fancy cute stationary. My notebook currently has unicorns and fairies on it!<3

4: Want to add some loli style to your room with paint or sumpin’? Parents will probably hook you up.

So, those are just four of many reasons why being a minor isn’t all that bad. Bragging rights? I THINK SO.

When attending a con- A what to guide

So, The other day I attended my first con in lolita. It was awsome, just saying. But there were a couple things I had to learn very fast to
A) Keep up
and B) Be able to be social
So, for the benifit of you guys, I've compiled a few tips to keep in mind when attending a con. Some of these things are kind of obvious, I know, but people forget them.
So, here goes:
Tip 1: Dont wait for others to talk to you, you start the conversation. Find another person whose alone if you're worried about interrupting a conversation. I spent many an akward moment because of that.

Tip 2: Dont expect to get pictures of you taken- people have animes that they find far more riveting than a frilly girl.

Tip 3: Always have multiple back up outfits- you never know. >_>

Tip 4: When attending a lolita gathering at a con speak loudly, seriously. Cons are loud as fook and dispite popular belief people do want to here you.

Tip 5: Keep any talking within a panel concise, people lose interest after a while.

Tip 6: Don't think that your camera phone will be able to handle the photo taking. Bring a legit camera.

Tip 7: Always go through the vendor area more than once. There was a bodyline stall selling way over priced clothes when you could go one row back and buy a skirt for far less with WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better quality.
